  1. Patrons shall respect the rights of other patrons.  They will not interfere with the use of the library by other patrons or interfere with the library employees’ or volunteers’ performance of their duties.  The following behaviors will be considered disruptive and offensive cand can result in expulsion from the building and suspension of library privileges based on the discretion of the Library Director:  harassing and annoying other patrons; loud talking; running, rough-housing or fighting; use of foul language or threatening gestures; unsolicited physical contact; drug or alcohol use. No dangerous weapons are allowed on Library property.  Shirts and footwear are required in the building.
  2. Patrons shall not deface or destroy in any way Library materials, equipment, building or grounds.  Any material removed from the Library must be checked out on a valid library card, except by permission from the Director. Materials must be returned on time and in good condition. A patron who vandalizes, steals or destroys library materials, equipment, building or grounds may forfeit all library privileges and be subject to financial liability for damages and possible prosecution by law, at the discretion of the Library Director.
  3. Patrons may not leave a child under the age of 8 unattended in the Library. (See “Unattended Child Policy” for details.)

In the event that an individual violates these rules, a staff member will inform the person that his/her behavior violates the Patron Code of Conduct and if the behavior continues, he/she will be asked to leave the Library.  If the individual refuses, the police will be called to remove the person.  Any person who commits a crime at the Library will be subject to arrest and prosecution.
